Character Profile: Yasmin

Now that I have introduced you guys to what my novel is about, I thought I’d introduce you and tell you more about the main character: Yasmin.

Character profile: Yasmin

Name: Yasmin Berkani

Nicknames: Yas, most commonly but a few select people call her Mina

Age: 23

Religion: Islam

Nationality: British/ Algerian. Yasmin’s parents moved to Britain from Algeria before she was born.

Place of birth: Enfield, London. Yasmin’s parents initially settled in London and then moved to Luton when Yasmin was 2 years old.

Currently living: Luton

Qualifications: 2:1 BSc Hons psychology degree

Siblings: one older sister named Sara

Best friend: Halima, whom she met on her course at university

Current Occupation: support worker on a mental health ward

Dream Job: Islamic counsellor

Languages spoken: English, Algerian Arabic, Classical Arabic, some French

Favourite colour: dark green

Favourite flowers: tulips

Favourite surah of the Quran: Al-Insan

Favourite drink: Latte

Favourite meal: an Algerian dish called Reshta; consists of noodles, chicken and sauce

Favourite book: A Thousand Splendid Suns – Khaled Hosseini

Favourite season: spring

Sense of humour: sarcastic

Hobbies include: reading, studying Qur’an and Hadith, drawing, doodling, walking.

Favourite animal: Fox

Favourite place: Cherchell, a place in Algeria where Yasmin and her family would regularly (most summers) go to visit family.

    I assume she'll have a reflective and throughtful personality from what I've read read, but I can be totally wrong so maaybe you could please us with that info?
